You and I can both get jobs and finally see what it means to be living

Over the past few weeks as well as being part of the stand design team for the clothes show i have also been part of the 'styling team', which is basically putting together the 'look' of the models, including shoes/hair pieces/tights etc. I havent been able to help up much until today due to commitments to the stand project and also juggling work alongside the course. Today i helped Kayleigh and everyone begin to look at attaching bows to the shoes that were a mix of black brogues/heavy army boots that had had the soles spray painted bright colours. The whole theme/concept behind the styling was that of razzle dazzle/wonderland and making everything colourful/fanciful and exaggerated. We decide to show an example of a styled outfit to our course leader Angela as before we progressed any further we needed her input/opinions on our chosen look, once we had secured the bows (as seen in the photos) we styled one of the garments that had been made from our scarves with brightly coloured tights, brogues with bows and a bigger bow for the neck (all bows made from black organza).
When i was taking photos of the bows on the shoes i noticed how they didnt stand out as they were black on black and as such i felt the concept and look behind them was slightly lost and lacked impact, especially thinking of these going down the runway everything has to be bigger and better. As seen in the photos when we tied the bow onto the leg in direct contrast to the bright neon tights it was alot more dynamic and interesting. I also felt that the shade of tights was a little off and cheap looking and altogether this was a very watered down budgeted look on the originial idea behind the look and suffered consequently.

When Angela saw it she gave us constructive criticism on what would work well going down the catwalk and reiterated what i had thought, she started to talk about us looking at using jeans as denim is a good base fabric to work onto and then within this i thought of looking to the 1980's, where i had researched ideas into garment construction (when i foolishly believed i would also have time to be in that group!) and felt we should look at vivienne westwoods first collection based around the pirates and her work just before this of the punk look of diying clothes, so bleaching them/distressing them and instead of going straight down the punk look take inspiration from it and use a light blue wash of denim again nodding towards the 80's but for the style take them through more into this look of grunge/90's! I had an old pair of jeans sat at home that sadly i struggle to squeeze into nowadays but as they are topshop im loathed to throw them away.. and tonight when i got home i dipped the ends into bleach and they have been sat there ever since slowly going from blue to white ! Kayleigh came over and we both sat there with sandpaper working away at the legs of jeans giving them this worn look, unfortunately seem as they are still sat in the bleach i forsee a long night ahead of me as they need to be washed/dryed tomorrow morning as we are producing an example of this look tomorrow to take to our tutors and then see where we go from there ! And after bleaching/distressing my jeans ive decided to work on squeezing back into them as they look really cute and grungey ^.^
